Kalaignar AR Experience — Live Tribute Installation
Conceptualization and deployment of a live augmented reality stage experience recreating the presence of Thiru M. Karunanidhi through an AR holographic presentation during the DMK anniversary celebration in Chennai.
During the anniversary celebration of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Chennai, the organisers sought to create a unique stage experience that would symbolically bring Thiru M. Karunanidhi back to address the audience.
DB Productions conceptualized and delivered a live augmented reality experience that recreated the presence of Kalaignar through a digitally produced AR holographic representation.
The installation enabled the legendary leader to appear on stage through AR projection and deliver an address to the audience, creating a powerful and emotionally engaging moment during the event.
The project involved concept development, AR content creation, stage integration and live execution of the augmented reality presentation.

AR Experience System and Installation Elements
The installation was designed as a live augmented reality stage environment, enabling a digital representation of Kalaignar to appear on stage in synchronization with the event production.
The experience combined AR graphics rendering, real-time stage integration and media playback systems to create the illusion of the leader appearing live before the audience.
Key elements of the installation included development of the AR holographic character, stage mapping workflows and media system integration required to synchronize the AR presentation with the live event environment.
The project involved the creation of a detailed AR representation of Thiru M. Karunanidhi, along with the production of the speech sequence and visual elements required for the live experience.
The final presentation delivered a memorable tribute experience that combined digital technology with live stage production to recreate the presence of one of Tamil Nadu’s most influential leaders.
